PSYCHOEDUCATIONAL ASSESSMENTS

It is a group of tests (Intelligence, cognitive, achievement, behavior) administered over a duration (usually 3-5 sessions each 45-60 minutes). The focus of psychoeducational assessment is one of the types of diagnostic assessment mostly done to diagnosed conditions in school going children. Reviewing medical and school records along with parental interview is an integral part of this assessment. In India, CBSE requires a detailed psychoeducational assessment report for provisions of accommodations for children with learning disabilities.

NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENTS

Children with cognitive/scholastic/behavioral issues often have underlying neuropsychological deficits in areas of attention, memory, learning, perception, executive skills etc. Neuropsychological assessments allows a clinician to identify and measure these deficits which paves way for a focused intervention planning. We use various standardized batteries for the same. Sometimes intelligence assessment (IQ) tests are also part of a neuropsychological assessment.

PSYCHODIAGNOSTIC ASSESSMENTS

Children with early onset of psychological/emotional disorders need to go through psychodiagnostic assessment. Psychodiagnostic assessment sheds light on the client’s temperament/personality, behavioral syndrome, psychopathology (severity), associated factors. A group of standardized tests are required for the same as per the presenting concerns.

DEVELOPMENTAL ASSESSMENTS

Children with early signs of developmental delays need to be assessed with a comprehensive test that captures the development in all domains. It not provides information about the development of the child but also provides opportunity for any additional or co-morbid neurodevelopmental disorder. Usually it is preceded with a developmental screening test. Developmental assessments are accompanied by diagnostic and behavioral assessments to give a complete picture. These are tests administered most commonly during the developmental period (0-8 years) of age.

BEHAVIOR ASSESSMENTS

Behavioral problems (excesses and deficits) are usually the most common presenting complaints in early childhood. Behavioral screening and assessments gives us information about the severity and domains of behavior issues.

SENSORY PROFILE (OT) ASSESSMENTS

Children with neurodevelopmental issues especially children with Autism show symptoms of poor sensory processing skills leading to hypersensitivity and hypo sensitivity in few or many  sensory systems. Our trained occupational therapist conduct systematic evaluation of the child using direct observations and parental interviews to establish the link between behaviors and sensory processing issues. Ultimately it helps to devise  an intervention plan (sensory integration therapy).
